The Leader of Character Team believes inspiration is paired best with the practical ‘how to’ using examples that law enforcement can relate to. The audience will know what to do when they leave because they will practice the words and actions in the room.
“Would you follow you?” That is the question every officer and every leader in law enforcement should be asking themselves. During this fast paced and interactive keynote, we lay out a plan that includes the Why, the What, and the How to develop your character and the character of the people you are called to lead. In law enforcement, where training is almost always focused on tactical decision making, it is the non-tactical decisions – decisions of character – that get law enforcement leaders in trouble. This keynote is designed to inspire and equip the attendees to develop their character and the character of their teams. Everything we discuss comes from Dave Anderson’s book Becoming a Leader of Character and the Six Habits of Character: Courage, Humility, Integrity, Selflessness, Duty, and Positivity. “Would you follow you?” We want you to answer “Yes” to that question.
Has the ethics training we’ve done for decades changed behaviors? Most ethics training focuses on “what not to do” and the punishment for those poor choices. But, we still have people making poor choices in our communities and inside our own teams. Instead of threats, what if we developed wise decision makers? A proven method that develops wise decision makers involves The Six Habits of Character and West Point’s Three Rules of Thumb. In this session, attendees learn about a plan that is not built on threats, but on building individual and organizational character in the agencies you lead. We focus on “This is what do we do?” Instead of “what not to do.”
Becoming An Officer Of Character Workshop is now available to you and your team. Through a combination of interactive lessons questions and exercises, you will be able to build upon the lessons we discuss together everyday.
The payoff for attending the workshop is creating a workplace where everyone is taking responsibility for their actions and becomes the leader they would want to follow.

In module one, we will focus on Becoming an Officer of Character. Together, we will learn about the 6 Habits of Character and how to practically apply them in our lives, thus becoming the leader we wish we had.

On day two, we will learn how to influence growth, how to deal with conflict, and how to coach people based on their individual DISC personality assessment. We will then look at how each DISC style can apply the 6 Habits of Character.

On day three, we will learn what it means to Lead an Agency of Character. We will teach you how to create an environment of trust and form character on your team by using the 6 Habits of Character.
